Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Birdii ("Birdii," "we," "us," or "our") is a golf app that lets you track rounds and scores, compute a handicap and statistics, view course leaderboards, play on-course competitions with friends, log practice, connect with other golfers, and get feedback from an AI coaching feature. Birdii is operated by Casp Media LLC.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Birdii mobile app and our website (together, the "Service"), how we use and share it, the choices you have, and the rights you may have under applicable law. By creating a Birdii account or otherwise using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.

2. Who Can Use Birdii (Age Requirement)

Birdii is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the Service or provide any information about yourself. See "Children's Privacy" below.

3. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information.

3.1 Information you provide to us

  • Account and identity information. When you create an account, we (through our authentication provider) collect your username, password, email address, display name, date of birth, gender, and home city/state. Your password is handled and stored by our authentication provider in hashed form; we do not store your plaintext password.
  • Profile and equipment information. Details you add to your profile, including your golf equipment ("My Bag") such as club and golf ball brands and models, and your home course or region.
  • Golf activity you log. Rounds and scores, hole-by-hole data and statistics (for example strokes, putts, fairways hit, greens in regulation, penalties), handicap inputs, practice sessions (range sessions and lessons, including focus areas, duration, rating, and notes), and on-course games and competitions and their results. Any wager or "stakes" figures you enter are used only as informational bookkeeping shown to participants; Birdii does not process, hold, or transfer money.
  • Content you create and share. Posts, captions, photos and videos, comments, likes, follows, and direct messages, as well as your privacy settings (such as whether your account is public or private).
  • AI Coach conversations. The messages you send to the AI coaching feature and the golf-related information used to generate responses (see "AI Features" below).
  • Communications with us. Information you provide when you contact support or otherwise communicate with us, including any scorecard photos you email us to request that a course be added.

3.2 Information we collect automatically

  • Device and app information. Such as device model, operating system and version, app version, language, time zone, and general device settings.
  • Usage and analytics data. How you interact with the Service — for example screens viewed, features used, actions taken, session timing, and diagnostic/crash information. This includes session recordings (interaction replays) captured through our analytics provider to help us understand usability and fix problems. We configure session recording to mask text you type into input fields (such as password and email fields) so that content is not captured in recordings.
  • Log data. Server and device logs, including IP address, access times, and error data.
  • Push token. A device push token so we can send you notifications (if you enable them).

3.3 Location information

  • Approximate and precise location (with your permission). With your permission, we use your device location to help you find golf courses near you and to record the location of a practice session you log. You can grant or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings; if you decline, location-dependent features are simply less tailored.
  • Location you provide. The home city/state you enter during sign-up or in your profile.

3.4 Camera and photo library (with your permission)

If you choose to add photos or videos (for example to a round, match, or practice post), we access your camera and/or photo library with your permission to let you select and upload that media.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and operate the Service — create and maintain your account, log and display your rounds, matches, and practice, and sync your data across devices.
  • Compute golf features — calculate your handicap, statistics, analytics, course leaderboards, competition results, and personal records from the data you log.
  • Enable social features — power your feed, follows, likes, comments, direct messages, invitations, and profile.
  • Provide the AI Coach — generate coaching responses based on your golf data and the messages you send (see "AI Features").
  • Send notifications — deliver push notifications and service-related messages you have enabled.
  • Communicate with you — respond to support requests, send administrative and transactional messages, and send marketing and promotional messages (see "Marketing Communications").
  • Personalize your experience — such as surfacing nearby courses and relevant content.
  • Maintain safety and integrity — detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, and violations of our terms, and enforce our policies (including through mute, block, and report tools).
  • Improve the Service — understand usage, diagnose problems, and develop new features through analytics and product research.
  • Comply with law — meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

5. AI Features (AI Coach)

The AI Coach generates golf coaching in response to your messages. To do this, your messages and relevant golf context (such as recent rounds, statistics, handicap, gear, and practice history) are sent to our third-party AI provider, which processes them to produce a response. Our AI provider processes this information to provide the feature to us and, under our agreement, does not use it to train its models. The AI Coach is designed to discuss golf only; please do not enter sensitive personal information (such as financial, health, or government-ID information) into the AI Coach. AI-generated responses may be inaccurate and are not professional instruction, medical, or other professional advice.

6. Marketing Communications

When you create a Birdii account, you agree to receive marketing and promotional communications from us (such as emails about features, tips, offers, and updates), as described in our Terms of Service. This section explains how those communications work and how to control them. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link in those emails or by contacting us at info@birdiiapp.com. Even if you opt out of marketing, we may still send you non-promotional, service-related messages (for example, security, transactional, or account notices) that are necessary to operate the Service.

7. How We Share Information

We share information in the following circumstances:

  • With other users. Birdii is a social product. Your profile and the content you choose to share (for example, posts, shared rounds, matches, shared practice, comments, and likes) are visible to others according to your settings — publicly, or to your followers if your account is private. Direct messages are shared with the participants in the conversation. Please share only what you are comfortable making visible.
  • With service providers ("subprocessors"). We share information with vendors who perform services for us so we can operate the Service, including providers of authentication, cloud database and file storage, media hosting, AI processing (for the AI Coach), analytics and session recording, push-notification delivery, golf course data, location and address lookups, and app distribution. These providers are permitted to use the information only to perform services for us and are contractually required to protect it and to provide a level of protection at least equivalent to that described in this Privacy Policy.
  • For legal reasons and safety. We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our terms; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Birdii, our users, or others.
  • In a business transfer. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.
  • Aggregated or de-identified data. We may create and use aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

8. Your Choices and Rights

  • Access and update. You can view and edit much of your profile information in the app.
  • Delete your account. You can delete your Birdii account from within the app (Settings → Account → Delete account). Deleting your account removes or de-identifies your personal information associated with the account, subject to the retention exceptions described below (for example, information we must keep for legal, security, or backup reasons for a limited period).
  • Marketing opt-out. See "Marketing Communications" above.
  • Device permissions. You can control location, notification, and camera/photo permissions at any time through your device settings.
  • Privacy controls. You can set your account to private, and you can mute, block, and report other users.
  • Region-specific rights. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to opt out of certain processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising your rights. This includes rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act/CPRA and the EU/UK GDPR. To exercise these rights, contact us at info@birdiiapp.com; we will verify and respond as required by applicable law. If you are in the EEA or UK, our legal bases for processing include performing our contract with you, your consent (which you may withdraw), our legitimate interests (such as securing and improving the Service), and compliance with legal obligations.

9. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward for as long as reasonably necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, maintain security, and for legitimate business purposes. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it. Residual copies may persist in backups for a limited period before being overwritten.

10. Data Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit, hashed password storage through our authentication provider, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your login credentials confidential.

11. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us at info@birdiiapp.com.

12. International Users and Data Transfers

Birdii is operated from the United States, and we and our service providers may store and process your information in the United States and other countries that may have different data-protection laws than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

13. Usernames, Names, and Intellectual Property

Your username and display name are part of your public profile and are visible to other users. You do not own your username or display name — we grant you a limited, revocable license to use them within the Service, and we may reclaim, suspend, rename, or remove them (for example, if they infringe another party's rights, are used to impersonate someone, or are the subject of a valid rights-holder complaint).

The full rules governing usernames, display names, the content you post, and the license you grant us in that content are set out in our Terms of Service (see "Usernames, Names, and Content"). This Privacy Policy addresses only how that information is treated as data.

Rights-holder complaints. If you believe content or a username on Birdii infringes your intellectual-property rights, contact us at info@birdiiapp.com with the details necessary to identify the material and your claim, and we will review and respond appropriately.

14. Third-Party Services and Links

The Service relies on third-party providers and may link to third-party websites or services (for example, an app store, or a course's website). Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices. We encourage you to review the policies of any third party you interact with.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (for example, in the app or by email). Your continued use of the Service after an update takes effect means you accept the revised Privacy Policy.
